Czech Stem Cells Registry, former Czech Bone Marrow Donor Registry, was founded in 1991 in the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine. In the same year, it became member of the international network of unrelated bone marrow donor registries which was managed from the co-ordinating centre in Leiden, Netherlands. CSCR is member of BMDW and WMDA.
CSCR gradually established contacts and joined other co-operating information networks: National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) in Minneapolis in 1997 and European Marrow Donor Information System (EMDIS) in Ulm, Germany.
CSCR holds ISO 9001 certification dated September 2007.
CSCR effectively takes advantage of methodical and human resources of HLA laboratories (EFI accredited) which work both for solid organ and bone marrow transplants.
CSCR registers more than 22 000 bone marrow (stem cells) donors including cord blood units. CSCR searches in its database HLA matched donors for Czech and for international patients as well.
